Key Highlights of the New Tariff Schedule
- Reduced Average Basic Tariff
The average basic tariff rate has been adjusted to 45.40 sen/kWh, down from the previously approved 45.62 sen/kWh in December 2024. This adjustment results in an overall electricity tariff cost reduction of up to 19% compared to rates prior to December 2024.
- Impact on Domestic Consumers:
Domestic consumers with electricity consumption of 1,000 kWh or below per month will not be affected by the new tariff structure. Additionally, low-voltage non-domestic consumers using 200 kWh or below will benefit from the Energy Efficiency Incentive.
- Encouraging Energy-Efficient Practices:
Consumers who adopt energy-efficient habits can enjoy greater savings, particularly through the newly introduced Time-of-Use (TOU) Scheme.
Understanding the Time-of-Use (TOU) Scheme
The TOU Scheme offers extended off-peak periods to promote efficient energy consumption..
Off-Peak Periods:
- All day on Saturdays and Sundays
- Monday to Friday: 10:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Consumers are encouraged to shift their electricity usage to off-peak times to enjoy lower rates and further savings.
Changes to Electricity Bills:
From July 2025, consumers will receive electricity bills in a new, itemised format, providing greater transparency and clarity on consumption and charges.
The Government will continue the RM40 Electricity Bill Rebate Program, offering monthly rebates of up to RM40 for heads of households (KIR) registered under the e-Kasih system. Eligible individuals can check their status at:
