School life stories have a unique charm, especially when they highlight the experiences and challenges faced by our own community.

This November, audience can look forward to Pallikoodam, a new local Tamil family drama series that brings these experiences to life. Premiering on November 18, Pallikoodam is directed by Tinesh Sarathi Krishnan and marks a first-of-its-kind series focusing on a Tamil school with children in leading roles.

So, what's Pallikoodam all about?

Pallikoodam offers more than just a glimpse into school life; it sheds light on the mental health challenges that many primary school students face. The story centers on Yamuna, a 10-year-old girl who, like many children, struggles with language difficulties and bullying. Her journey takes an unexpected turn when her teacher selects her to represent the school in the Muthamizh Vizha competition, an event that celebrates Tamil language proficiency. However, Yamuna faces obstacles along the way, not only from her peers but also from differing opinions within her family regarding her participation. As she navigates these challenges, viewers witness her inspiring journey of resilience, self-discovery, and growth.

Pallikoodam features a talented cast of local newcomers, including Pavithiran Sukundan, Navomikah Avikna Kavidaran, Vanessa Cruez, Shashi Tharan, Aruna Raj, Sangabalan, and Kuben Mahadevan, all delivering heartfelt performances that bring this story to life.

Catch new episodes of Pallikoodam, every Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM on Astro Vaanavil (Ch 201), and stream it on Astro GO, On Demand, and sooka.
