The Hindu Agamam Ani Malaysia, a local NGO, is carrying out its own investigations into the death of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) student Vinosiny Sivakumar.

Its president Arun Dorasamy told news portal Free Malaysia Today (FMT) that they are currently on a fact-finding mission in Kedah, on behalf of the deceased's family.

"We (Hindu Agamam) want to make sure that no stories are (left) untold.

"We want to make sure that everything is revealed," he was quoted saying, adding that the NGO had already spoken to several parties regarding the incident, and vowed to share the findings with the police.

Vinosy, who was a Semester 4 student of Bachelor Degree in Accounting (Information System) was found dead in her hostel room at the UUM campus in Sintok, Kedah, last Saturday. She was only 21.

Her family had claimed that she died of alleged electrocution, while the university management has said that it would wait for the official post-mortem report to be released before making a conclusion.

The police had revealed that initial investigations had showed that Vinosiny had suffered a seizure, but said that they will await the autopsy report to ascertain the actual cause of death. Meanwhile, the case has been classified as SDR (sudden death report).

Vinosiny's father R. Sivakumar, 56, had alleged that the university management had been initially vague about the incident, and claimed that he saw burn marks and bruises on his daughter's face and fingers.

He had pleaded for the university to come clean and reveal what had actually transpired before his daughter's death - a sentiment echoed by netizens alike.

According to FMT, six officers from the Energy Commission and the police visited the campus’ hostel yesterday to conduct a probe.
