Train travel is about to become more affordable for Malaysians, with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) introducing a 30% discount on selected train tickets to encourage more people to use public transport.
Announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, the initiative applies to all Electric Train Service (ETS) routes as well as the Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT) service between Johor Bahru Sentral and Tumpat.
However, the discount is only available for off-peak travel from Monday to Thursday. It will not be applicable during school holidays or public holidays.
The promotion is available for:
- Travel days: Monday to Thursday only
To enjoy the discounted fare, passengers must enter a promotional code, which will be announced by KTMB before bookings open.
The 30% discount does not apply to:
- ETS Business Class tickets
- ERT First Class and Sleeper Class tickets
- Concession ticket holders
Anthony Loke said the initiative is part of the Madani Government's efforts to encourage more Malaysians to choose public transport while making train travel more comfortable, convenient and affordable.
He also encouraged travellers to book their tickets early to secure seats and enjoy the discounted fares.
