Malaysians Heading to India Need Mandatory e-Arrival Card

E-arrival card

Malaysians planning to travel to India are now required to complete a mandatory e-Arrival Card at least 72 hours before departure, according to a travel advisory issued by the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi.

The announcement, shared through the High Commission’s official social media platforms, stated that the requirement applies to all Malaysian citizens travelling to India, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.

Travellers must submit the e-Arrival Card online through the Indian government portal before boarding their flight. This new requirement is in addition to holding a valid visa and other necessary travel documents.

To avoid delays or issues upon arrival, Malaysians are strongly encouraged to keep a digital or printed copy of their e-Arrival confirmation for immigration checks.

Travel guidelines for Malaysians heading to India:

  • Submit the mandatory e-Arrival Card at least 72 hours before departure
  • Applies to all Malaysian citizens, including OCI cardholders
  • Ensure passport validity and visa requirements are fulfilled
  • Keep a printed or digital copy of the e-Arrival confirmation
  • Check the latest travel rules before departure as regulations may change

The High Commission also advised travellers to stay updated with the latest entry procedures by referring to the relevant Indian authorities before their trip.

For Malaysians planning holidays, family visits or business travel to India, early preparation is highly recommended to ensure a smooth journey.
