If you were born in Selangor and are turning 18 this year, you may be eligible to claim RM1,500 under the Tabung Warisan Anak Selangor (TAWAS) programme.
The state savings scheme has officially reached maturity for its first batch of recipients. However, more than 60% of eligible youths have yet to claim their funds, with the state government reportedly facing difficulties reaching recipients due to outdated contact information.
To be eligible for the RM1,500 payout, recipients must have been registered as
TAWAS members by their parents before turning three.

Applicants must also meet the programme’s birth and residency requirements, including being born in Selangor or fulfilling the specific conditions that applied when they were registered.
How to Check TAWAS Status
1. Visit the official TAWAS portal: https://tawas.yawas.my/login.php?utm_source=chatgpt.com
2. Enter the child’s 12-digit MyKid or MyKad number without dashes.
3. Click “Check” to view the registration status and member information.
4. The portal will also show whether the child is eligible to claim the TAWAS benefits.
5. The valid claim date will be displayed, indicating when the child can receive the benefit upon reaching 18 years old.
Supporting Documents Required
- Copy of the child’s MyKid and birth certificate.
- Copies of both parents’ MyKad.
- Copy of the guardian’s MyKad, if applicable.
- Copy of the adoption certificate, if applicable.
The RM1,500 will be paid through Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) to the registered bank account or e-wallet, with payments being processed in phases according to the recipient’s birth month.
Young Selangorians who believe they were registered under TAWAS are encouraged to check their membership status and update their details to avoid missing out on the matured savings.
