Indian Malaysians from eligible B40 and M40 households may apply for various forms of assistance under Thunai MADANI, also known as the Program Bantuan Sinar Cahaya MITRA.
The initiative is led by the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) under the Ministry of Human Resources, which focuses on addressing the socioeconomic development and welfare needs of the Indian community in Malaysia.
To be eligible, applicants must be Malaysian citizens with a valid Malaysian identity card. The programme is open specifically to Malaysians of Indian ethnicity and covers individuals or households within the B40 and M40 income groups.
Thunai MADANI provides assistance across several areas, depending on the applicant’s circumstances and eligibility. These include:

- Spectacle assistance for senior citizens and students
- Early intervention assistance
- Mobility and transportation assistance for persons with disabilities (OKU)
- Disaster assistance
- Social emergency assistance
- Basic daily necessities assistance
- Medical treatment and equipment assistance for chronic illnesses
- Funeral assistance
- Maternity assistance
- Basic utility assistance
