The ongoing controversies surrounding Jana Nayagan have taken another turn after veteran filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar revealed that Vijay had already anticipated the challenges the film would face.
Speaking in a recent interview, SA Chandrasekhar said Vijay was fully aware that stepping into politics while releasing a major film would naturally attract scrutiny, delays and controversy.
According to him, Vijay had even informed the producers about possible hurdles during the film’s audio launch held in Malaysia.
He shared that Vijay had told them they were making a film at a time when he was entering politics and hoped they understood the kind of obstacles the project might face.
SA Chandrasekhar said the family was therefore not shocked when the film ran into multiple issues.
“If the film was released smoothly without any hurdles, we would have been surprised,” he remarked.
Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, was initially expected to release during the Pongal season. However, the film has since faced several setbacks, including delays linked to certification matters.
The production was dealt another blow recently when the movie was reportedly leaked online through piracy platforms before release.
Following complaints lodged with the authorities, Chennai Cyber Crime Police arrested multiple suspects connected to the leak. Officials reportedly stated that the main accused was a freelance editor who had access to the film footage before sharing it further, resulting in illegal circulation.
