Actress Samantha Akineni starter her career via Gautham Menon's 'Ye Maaya Chesave' in which she acted with her now-husband Naga Chaiyanya.

Now after a decade, Samantha had become one of the most sought after actress in the South Indian movie industry.

Just a few years after Samantha's movie debut, the actress was offered to play the female lead in Mani Ratnam's 'Kadal' - the debut movie of actor Kartik's son Gautham.

The actress who took up the part earlier opted out later on and the role was given to actress Radha's daughter Thulasi Nair instead.

In a previous interview, Samantha clarified that she only had two months to commit to the movie which was shot in Andaman. But she had to opt-out as she was down with an immunity disorder which badly affected her skin.

She further added that director Mani Ratnam was very kind and understanding of her unfortunate situation.
