An ancient statue of Karuppasamy was recently discovered on the shores of Tiruchendur beach. In Hindu tradition, an Ashtabandana Mahakumbabhishekam is performed every 12 years in temples. During this ritual, damaged idols are often submerged in natural water bodies such as seas, rivers, or ponds before important occasions like Ammavasai and Pournami.

In this case, the Karuppasamy statue, previously immersed in the sea, was brought back to shore, likely due to strong waves.
