Deeply moved, Bai went back to Tianjin and resumed pulling his rickshaw. He lived in a modest room near the train station, ate the simplest of meals, and wore second-hand clothes. Day and night, he made himself available to passengers, saving every cent he could. But none of it was for himself. Every yuan he earned went toward supporting poor children so they could continue their education.

In 2001, nearly 90 years old, Bai arrived at Tianjin YaoHua Middle School with his final donation. With tears in his eyes, he told the students that he could no longer work. The teachers and children, overwhelmed by his selflessness, wept as they listened.
By the end of his journey, Bai Fangli had donated 350,000 yuan, helping more than 300 children go to school. When he passed away in 2005, he left behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
If a man with no wealth, no education, and only a rickshaw to his name could change the lives of 300 children, imagine the change we could create with the resources and opportunities we have today.
