The first total lunar eclipse of 2026 is set to take place on March 3, and it will be visible from Malaysia. Known as Chandra Grahan, it is associated with the mythological phenomenon of Rahu and Ketu swallowing the moon. Although culturally considered inauspicious, especially in Vedic astrology, the effects of the eclipse can be mitigated with appropriate remedies and pariharams.
In Malaysia, many temples observe specific customs during lunar eclipses. On March 3, several temples are expected to be closed from around 4:41 PM until 10:24 PM, the time when the eclipse phases conclude.
According to Vedic astrology, certain nakshatirams are believed to be more sensitive to the energies of a lunar eclipse. On March 3, the following nakshatras are affected:
- Ashwini
- Bharani
- Karthigai
- Uthiram
- Uthiradam
- Pooram
- Pooradam
- Moolam

It is important to note that the influences of a grahanam can vary based on individual birth charts, planetary positions, and personal circumstances.
