Tamil actor Vijay announced that his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has been officially recognised by the Election Commission of India. Vijay shared that the party's application, submitted on February 2, underwent legal scrutiny before receiving approval to participate in electoral politics.

“This recognition marks the first step towards achieving success in various directions," Vijay stated.

Earlier, the party had unveiled its flag, which is red and maroon at the top and bottom, with a yellow band in the middle featuring two elephants and the Vaagai flower, a symbol of victory. TVK also released its flag anthem on social media platforms.

During his recent announcement, Vijay urged party members to stay patient until a state-level meeting is held to present the party's ideology. With the recognition from the Election Commission, TVK is now preparing for organizational meetings at multiple levels, with the goal of contesting the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Although the party was formed ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, TVK chose not to contest or endorse any other candidates in the election.
