The 71st National Film Awards will be remembered not only for honouring legends like Mohanlal and Shah Rukh Khan, but also for celebrating a little star who stole the nation’s heart. At just four years old, Treesha Vivek Thosar from Maharashtra created history as the youngest recipient of the Best Child Artist award for her role in Naal 2. On September 23, she walked up to the stage at Vigyan Bhavan to receive the honour from President Droupadi Murmu, her innocent smile winning an ovation as loud as any superstar’s.

Treesha’s achievement is extraordinary, breaking the long-standing record held by Kamal Haasan, who himself had received the President’s Gold Medal at the age of six for his role in Kalathur Kannamma. In a heartwarming gesture, Kamal Haasan applauded her on social media, writing that she had “beaten his record” and encouraging her to continue nurturing her talent. For someone so young to receive such recognition is a reminder that brilliance has no age.

Treesha has already made her mark through television and cinema. She began her journey in the serial Aie Tuljabhavani before moving on to films like Pet Puraan, Manvat Murders, and the recently released Aatli Baatmi Futli. She continues to work on new projects, including Punha Shivaji Raje Bhosale, set to release early next year.

Her story is more than just an award. It reflects the magic of pure talent, the guidance of supportive mentors, and the courage of a child who stood before the nation with grace beyond her years. In her footsteps, we see the spark of a future filled with possibilities, where passion and dedication can shine through no matter how young the dreamer.

Treesha Vivek Thosar has reminded us all that greatness is not confined by age, but driven by heart.
