“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” - Zig Ziglar.

Living up to this powerful quote, Tanusya Manimuttu of SMK Damansara Utama has achieved remarkable feats in the realm of public speaking, recently securing two major victories : the WeVoi UK Public Speaking Competition and the Australasia Impromptu Speaking Championship last weekend.

Under the encouragement of her mother, she embarked on a journey to set individual records, inspired by a family friend's suggestion. Having previously participated in group achievements, she earned recognition through the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for the most Sue Bonnet dolls produced under the Girl Guides Association Malaysia in 2024, and for constructing the largest origami Malaysian kite with the Malaysia Origami Academy in 2019.

Her individual pursuit led her to a ground-breaking achievement last year by writing and delivering a total of 101 speeches, which earned her recognition in both the Asia Book of Records (ABR) and the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR).

On May 31, Tanusya secured a place in the ABR for delivering the “maximum self-written speeches by a teen” in just two hours, 49 minutes, and 54 milliseconds. This incredible accomplishment was followed by an MBR recognition on July 29 for delivering the “most self-written speeches by a teen”.

Tanusya Manimuttu’s unwavering dedication and achievements continue to inspire many, proving that passion and perseverance can turn dreams into reality. As she continues to make Malaysia proud, she also places the country firmly on the world map for youth excellence and creativity.

Thank you, Tanusya, for inspiring a nation with your brilliance and determination.
